We've wondered how the Chiefs would replace Nick Bolton, though the defense has maintained its excellence even without the star linebacker.

Still, depth would be nice, especially after a gutting loss to the Eagles. As luck would have it, a former all-pro linebacker just became available!

Here's the latest information on the potential Chiefs' free agent target:

Perfect Chiefs Free Agency Target Just Became Available

The Colts released Shaquille Leonard today in a stunning move. Leonard was in his sixth season with Indianapolis, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 while making four All-Pro teams.

He's routinely been one of the NFL's best and most physical linebackers, highlighted by the eight forced fumbles Leonard caused in 2021.

Drue Tranquill and Willie Gay Jr. have been excellent for the Chiefs, though you can never have too many good linebackers. With no solution in sight for Kansas City's issues at wide receiver, the organization may be best served by improving its elite defense.

Signing Leonard long-term may prove impossible with the Chiefs' cap situation, but there's no denying he'd boost Kansas City's Super Bowl chances this year.

He has 65 tackles this season in nine games and could form a nasty duo with Trent McDuffie as perhaps the best in the league at forcing fumbles at their positions.

We'll see if Brett Veach brings Leonard on board, though I support at least trying to make the cap figures work.
