Patrick Mahomes Teases Desire to Play Another Sport
Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL and has been for some time now. The 28-year-old has already won three Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVP awards. Can't forget he's a two-time NFL MVP Award winner.
Before he became a superstar in the NFL, Mahomes played both football and baseball growing up. He was a two-sport star at Whitehouse High School. He then played both sports at Texas Tech but decided to step away from baseball after his sophomore year.
Even though he hasn't played baseball in years, Mahomes would still love to get on the diamond. In an interview with TIME magazine, he expressed his desire to play in spring training with the Kansas City Royals. He's been a minority owner of the Royals since July 2020.
Kansas City News: Patrick Mahomes Would Love to Play in Spring Training With the Kansas City Royals
Mahomes said, "I’ve talked to the Royals. And if I can maybe go out to a spring training, I’m not opposed to that. I’ll get it approved by the Chiefs and everything like that. But maybe one of these years I go out there and see what I got. See if I can still hit the ball or pitch or whatever that is. Maybe not in the games but I can at least practice with them.”
Mahomes is certainly locked into being the Chiefs quarterback but his love for baseball has never gone away. His father Patrick Mahomes I was a pitcher in the major leagues from 1992-2003, playing for six teams during his career.
I'm pretty sure this dream will become a reality down the line and Chiefs fans will get clips on their quarterback hammering some hits on the diamond.
