The start to training camp has not been kind to the Kansas City Chiefs. They've dealt with some key absences and a few injuries since practices began, presenting some early obstacles in KC's way as it prepares for Week 1.

However, amid the bad updates on the health front, the Chiefs finally got some good news on Sunday, as it was revealed offensive lineman Joe Thuney had been activated off of the physically unable to perform list.

Many are happy about this news, including Thuney's quarterback.

After hearing Thuney had passed his physical and came off of the PUP list, Mahomes posted a smiling emoji on Twitter/X. The star certainly said a lot even with such a short message.

It's no surprise to see Mahomes excited about Thuney getting closer to his return. The veteran has been an incredible addition to the offensive line since coming over as a free agent in 2021, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods each of the past two seasons. He's only allowed four sacks across three campaigns as a Chief as well, so he's done his part to keep Mahomes upright in KC.

However, the superstar signal-caller had to make do without one of his top security guards for the Chiefs' final two games of last playoffs, as Thuney was sidelined by this pectoral injury during both the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl.

Now the veteran O-lineman is making progress as he looks to take the field again. With the left tackle job currently up for grabs, Kansas City would love to get Thuney back in the fold to start building chemistry on this new-look unit. Expect the team to still be cautious, but it seems he's close to rejoining the front line.
