Kansas City sports fans are ecstatic after watching the Kansas City take down the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night to advance to the American League Division Series.

The Royals defeated the Orioles 2-1 in Game 2, thanks to outstanding pitching and clutch hitting from Bobby Witt Jr. and Michael Massey. Witt Jr. and Massey both had two hits in the victory.

Royals fans have been waiting a long time for their squad to return to the postseason after seeing Kansas City clinch a wild-card spot in the American League at the end of September.

The Royals’ series-clinching win caught the attention of Kansas City superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes immediately tweeted a gif of Sluggerrr swinging the Royals’ flag after the final out.

The Chiefs’ star quarterback is a part of the Royals ownership group, so you must believe that this series win means a lot to him and the rest of Kansas City. Mahomes joined KC’s ownership group in 2020.

The Royals will prepare to play the New York Yankees in the ALDS, with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday at 6:38 p.m. ET/5:38 p.m. CT. The Yankees dominated the regular season series over the Royals, winning five out of seven games.

However, the MLB playoffs are a different animal and this Royals’ team has proven that they are ready for the bright lights. With the Chiefs not set to play until Monday night, you must believe that Mahomes will be tuned to see what Witt and Co. can do.
