The NFL free agency and offseason are in full swing but all eyes are currently on March Madness. As the NCAA Tournament just wrapped up its first week, proud alumni and college basketball fans continue engaging in friendly wagers and trash talk while vying for bragging rights.

This includes the Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.

A proud Texas Tech alum and an avid basketball fan, Mahomes unsurprisingly tuned into the action this week. However, things didn't work out well for his Red Raiders as they fell to North Carolina State in the first round.

This has cost Mahomes a bet, seemingly against his former backup Shane Buechele.

Mahomes, donning a Bevo head, (the symbol for the University of Texas) tagged Buechele, a fellow Texan and a former Longhorn, in his social media post admitting losing his bet.

This post indicated that the two had a bet about which Texas team would go further in the tournament. Buechele's Longhorns also got eliminated early as they lost to Tennessee in the second round but it was enough for him to win the bet.

Buechele had signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2021. After spending two seasons as a reserve and never playing a snap, he signed with the Buffalo Bills practice squad last season.

If you want to get involved in the action, there is still plenty of time. The NCAA Tournament is heading into the exciting Sweet 16 round and FanDuel Sportsbook is offering $200 in bonus bets when you sign up and make your first winning wager of $5.
