As we slowly approach the beginning of a new season in the NFL, we are getting more details about new rules, changes, and scheduling decisions. One surprising news that came out on Tuesday was the fact that the league is planning to play on Christmas Day again in 2024, despite the fact that it is on a Wednesday.

This could prove to be bad news for teams like the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs Likely to Play Again on Christmas Day

The NFL previously scheduled games on Christmas Day if it fell on a day that already regularly had NFL games. Last season, for example, Dec. 25th was on a Monday, and three games were scheduled, including the Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders.

The league used to avoid scheduling games on short weeks, and it also didn't want to interfere with the NBA, which historically dominated Christmas Day with five back-to-back signature matchups.

However, once again the TV ratings and financial incentives seemed to have made the decision for the NFL. Only a few weeks after Thanksgiving Day when teams have a short week, there will be multiple Wednesday games.

One of these games will likely include the Chiefs once again in a marquee matchup as the NFL tries to showcase its biggest stars on the biggest day on the calendar.

This will be the fourth straight year that the NFL has games scheduled on Christmas Day. It's safe to assume that this is going to be here to stay.
