New Chiefs WR Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown suffered a concerning injury in his first action with Kansas City during Saturday's preseason loss to the Jaguars.

Andy Reid told reporters after the game that Brown has a sternoclavicular joint dislocation and went to the hospital for treatment. Tyreek Hill sustained the same injury in 2019 and missed four games.

Reid noted Brown will miss some time, further complicating a wide receiver room with plenty of questions before the team sets its final 53-man roster.

Chiefs News: Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown Suffers Injury

Brown played just one snap for the team, catching an 11-yard pass on Kansas City's initial offensive play. He was tackled awkwardly and left the contest.

The severity of the ailment wasn't yet known, though Reid's announcement should concern Chiefs fans. Rashee Rice faces a potential suspension, albeit one that looks less likely by the day, and fans saw how poor receiver play negatively impacted the offense in 2023.

It didn't ultimately matter, but is a problem nonetheless. Kansas City faces the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals in the first two weeks before tough matchups with the remade Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers. Brown could miss all of those games.

Injuries seemed to be the only thing that could detail the Chiefs' three-peat hopes and it took all of one snap for an issue to arise. Brown's small stature was already a cause for concern, so such an immediate injury bodes poorly overall.

Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, Justyn Ross, and Nikko Remigio now all have opportunities to earn not only roster spots, but significant snaps during a critical stretch in the season. There's hope that Brown won't miss as much time as Hill did, but the organization now has to prepare for the worst.
