The Kansas City Chiefs have been preoccupied with the Rashee Rice saga for the last month. The talented wide receiver, who is facing eight charges following an alleged car crash he caused in Dallas, has unfortunately not only put other people's lives at risk but also put his career in jeopardy. On top of the legal trouble he is in, Rice will likely be facing a multi-game suspension from the NFL, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

This creates a significant problem for the Chiefs to resolve. Regardless of the length of the suspension, the Chiefs now have to find a replacement for their best wide receiver.

Kansas City added Hollywood Brown in free agency and he will certainly help. However, the Chiefs already had a receiver corps that could have used an upgrade. Now that they are losing their most talented pass-catcher for at least a few games, and potentially more, they desperately need to address this void.

There are still a few veteran free agents available on the market. Odell Beckham Jr, Michael Thomas, and Tyler Boyd could come in and make an impact in the short term. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is still an option to be re-signed.

None of these options are a long-term solution, however. Drafting a wide receiver, however, would be.

The Chiefs have the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. There are plenty of wide receivers mocked to go in the late first round or early second round who would be excellent fits for Kansas City.

Xavier Worthy of Texas, Troy Franklin of Oregon, and Ladd McConkey of Georgia have all had pre-draft contact with the Chiefs in some capacity, and all three are within the team's range in most mock drafts.

Selecting one of these prospects would alleviate a lot of the concerns the Rashee Rice situation has created. FanDuel Sportsbook also favors the wide receiver position to be the first the Chiefs will address in the draft. (-120) Head over there now to get in on the action ahead of Thursday.
