Mere hours before the Chiefs take on the Ravens on Thursday Night Football in Week 1, a new Washington Post story report should fuel Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City's fire to destroy Baltimore on national television.

Kent Babb, formerly of the Kansas City Star, published a profile on Jackson that included some inflammatory quotes regarding the AFC Championship contest that resulted in a 17-10 win for the Chiefs en route to a second consecutive Super Bowl.

If Mahomes needed any extra motivation, Babb helped give it to him.

New Lamar Jackson Quotes Should Infuriate Patrick Mahomes

Jackson infamously struggled throwing the ball against Steve Spagnuolo's defense, failing to score a TD in the final three quarters of the game.

"How I’m feeling right now," said Jackson after a June practice. "I wish I was feeling like this, body-wise, in the AFC Championship. We would have won the game. I would have been able to move around for my guys. With me just hurting and can’t move, I know if my legs were good, we would have won that s---. We wouldn’t have even had to throw the ball. f--- throwing the ball."

This quote could not have been released at a worse time for Jackson and the Ravens. Jackson completed only 20 of 37 passes for a TD and interception, though a majority of his positive plays came early. Kansas City's defense settled in and prevented him from making an impact, but now Mahomes and Spagnuolo's group have added motivation.

We'll see a pair of two-time MVPs square off. For Jackson's sake, Baltimore hopes Mahomes didn't see this quote. Mahomes is 4-1 against Jackson and little suggests the Chiefs should lose on Thursday Night Football.

You can bet the Chiefs will make sure everyone on the roster knows exactly how Jackson feels going into kickoff.
