Lance Leipold and the Kansas football program are building for the future and landed one of the top recruits in Iowa for the 2025 class Sunday afternoon.
Malachi Curvey, one of the top three players in Iowa per prospect rankings, committed to the Jayhawks with plans to play linebacker, though he's got experience as an edge rusher and tight end as well.
The 6'3", 215 lb athlete is a ferocious defender with the athleticism to catch passes on the other side as well. This is a great get for Leipold as he builds this program for the future - Jayhawks fans should be thrilled.
Kansas Football Lands Four-Star Recruit From Iowa
Curvey joins QB David McComb from Oklahoma as Kansas' first two recruits for the 2025 class. The four-star recruit's versatility proves a boost to the program and he's been building relationships with the staff for months.
“KU was the pick because from the jump it felt like home,” Curvey told Rivals. “From the people, the staff, the players, everything is to like. I like the direction Kansas is going as well from being an 0-9 team to a 9-4 team with a bowl game win. Everyone thinks of basketball when it comes to Kansas, but I want to be a part of the people that continue to make it a football school as well.”
There's something special brewing over in Lawrence and Leipold is at the center of it. After the most successful season in 15 years, the dark days of the 2010s appear to be behind the university.
If Kansas keeps beating out rivals for talented recruits like Curvey, the Jayhawks will be in the thick of the Big 12 race for years to come.
