Chiefs vs. Bills AFC Divisional Round Opening Odds Disrespect Patrick Mahomes
By Joe Summers
Patrick Mahomes will play a road playoff game for the first time in his career as the Chiefs travel to Buffalo to face the Bills on Sunday night in the Divisional Round after the Bills' 31-17 win over the Steelers.
It's a rematch of the epic "13 second" 2021 Divisional game that launched the Chiefs' golden era of football, so we should be in for a thriller.
Opening odds underestimate the Chiefs, however, and we'll get Mahomes as an underdog despite Kansas City's dominant win over the Dolphins. Let's take a look at the odds and how sportsbooks envision the contest.
Chiefs vs. Bills AFC Divisional Round Opening Odds
The Chiefs are three-point underdogs and +120 on the moneyline with the total set at 45. It'll be just the 11th time Mahomes has been an underdog, and he's a spectacular 8-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 10.
Kansas City won seven of those games outright, and the Chiefs could end the Bills' season for the third time in four years.
Buffalo has looked excellent the last two months, rising from a 6-6 start to secure the No. 2 seed in the AFC. The Bills beat the Chiefs earlier this season, though Kansas City was without Isiah Pacheco and Drue Tranquill, two of the most important players on the roster.
Of course, the Chiefs were one Kadarius Toney offsides penalty away from a victory, and I've got confidence in Mahomes as an underdog.
If you prefer a bet on the total, the under is 5-2 in the Chiefs' last seven games as underdogs and this looks like the league's best defense. It'll be a fun one, but I'm backing Kansas City to come out on top.
