KC Royals News: Team Inks Three-Time World Series Champion to $5 Million Deal
By Joe Summers
The Royals are reuniting with an old friend, signing RP Will Smith to a one-year $5 million deal. He'll join the bullpen as the most accomplished arm, having won three consecutive World Series rings the last three years.
Kansas City has been linked to a lot of pitchers this offseason, looking to stay active in a time the organization needs to quickly rebuild. This is a great first step.

Royals Free Agency: Club Signs RP Will Smith
Smith has a career 3.67 ERA, having spent his first two seasons with the Royals before being traded in the deal that brought Nori Aoki to Kansas City.
He brings experience and reliability to the club with a pedigree of winning. Smith spent last season with the Rangers after finishing 2022 with the Astros and 2021 on the Braves. Notably, all three teams won the World Series.
Could the Royals be next? Likely not this year of course, but we can dream!
In all seriousness, this is a smart move for a team that desperately needs bullpen arms. Smith automatically becomes the Royals' best reliever and I'm excited to see what moves the organization continues to make.
