The Chiefs and Bengals are locked into an intense rivalry with no love lost between the two sides, and WR Ja'Marr Chase fed into the rivalry on Wednesday by refusing to say QB Patrick Mahomes' name.

Speaking with NFL Films for the release of their 'NFL Top 100' series, Chase was asked who he thought the No. 1 player in the league was. Cincinnati's star wideout refused to say Mahomes' name out loud, recognizing Kansas City's leader was at the top but only through inference.

Instead of a quick, simple clip, the video now fuels the rivalry and shows just how terrified of Mahomes Chase truly is.

Ja'Marr Chase Refuses to Say Patrick Mahomes' Name

"On the what?" Chase said with a heavy sigh after being asked who the top player on the Top 100 was. "I'm not saying him. I give credit when it's due but I'm not saying his name."

Akin to "He Who Must Not Be Named" from the Harry Potter series, Chase repeatedly refused to say Mahomes' name. After the interviewer playfully responded that he didn't know who Chase was talking about, Chase curtly replied, "Yeah, you do. I'm not saying his name, brother. I'm sorry."

The Bengals with Joe Burrow, whom Chase eventually named instead of Mahomes, famously won their first three games over the Chiefs, including in the AFC Championship in 2021. Kansas City got revenge by ending Cincinnati's season each of the last two years, finishing the job with Super Bowl wins each time.

Chase and Burrow have never won a ring, despite nearly beating the Rams in their only Super Bowl appearance. I'd be upset if I was Chase too, but his comments do nothing but prove exactly how much Mahomes is in his head.

"He's good, he's amazing," Chase continued. "He's good, not going to lie. I'm salty, though. I'm a little salty. Two years in a row, but I'm putting Burrow first."

The Chiefs and Bengals square off in Kansas City in Week 2 of the upcoming season. If that video is any indication, be sure you have your popcorn ready.
