The Kansas City Chiefs had a familiar face at practice on Sunday, which caught the attention of fans and media. Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was seen wearing Chiefs attire at KC’s training camp, per PJ Green of FOX4 News Kansas City.

While it was weird for fans on social media to see Gruden wearing Chiefs colors after coaching the Raiders for eight years, Green mentioned that any guest coach who comes to camp dresses in KC gear.

Gruden reporteldy was seen at practice talking with Chiefs head coach Reid and also spoke with running back Isiah Pacheco (shown on video).

One paramount thing to remember is Reid and Gruden have known each other since the 1990s. Reid and Gruden were Mike Holmgren’s staff in Green Bay in the early 90s (1992-94).

After spending time on Holmgren’s staff, Gruden was the offensive coordinator for Philadelphia Eagles for three years before becoming the Raiders head coach in 1998 for his first stint with the franchise.

It’s been a few years since the 60-year-old Gruden was on the sidelines after resigning from the Raiders during a tumultuous 2021 season.  Gruden was fired after Week 5 due to inappropriate emails that he sent, which were publicized.

The former head coach reportedly worked as a consultant for the New Orleans Saints last season, which makes sense as Dennis Allen is the head coach in New Orleans. It remains to be seen whether Gruden will make any more guest appearances in Kansas City, or if this was a one-time showing.
