Hysteria About Patrick Mahomes Being Out of Shape is Overboard
Patrick Mahomes has been catching heat for his body lately, starting back in January after a photo of him celebrating the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win shirtless started circulating.
This week, Mahomes clearly had a bit of a gut showing as he walked into the Chiefs practice facility on Tuesday.
Fans (well, mostly haters) had a field day with it on Twitter, roasting Mahomes for his dad bod and questioning his offseason discipline.
Gimme a break.
If Mahomes is Fat, What Does That Make the Rest of Us?
NFL fans aren’t known for being models of peak male athleticism and you have to admit it’s a bit ironic that this demographic of people is poking fun at Mahomes.
Sure, Mahomes could be in better shape. But you have to be a moron to think this is going to impact his play on the field when it’s MAY.
Mahomes is fresh off his second consecutive Super Bowl win and he’s a father of two young children.
It’s to be expected that he had some distractions this offseason. But he still has nearly four months to get into peak shape before the NFL regular season begins. And it's not like he was ever in perfect shape anyways.
Let's not pretend that any of us are in great shape either. If we can’t have some grace for one of the best athletes in sports today, what does that say about how we feel about ourselves?
It’s OK to gain some weight, people.
If you won back-to-back Super Bowls, you might get a little chunky too. But you can’t relate to that, can you?
However, if Mahomes starts throwing more interceptions, can’t avoid sacks and doesn’t make the playoffs, get ready to load up your insults.
No one likes a loser, but Mahomes is well-liked for a reason.
