Hollywood Brown's Injury Takes Dramatic Turn Just Before Week 2
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs received surprising and terrible news on Friday morning, as the team will reportedly put WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown on the injured reserve list.
He'll undergo surgery on Monday after his shoulder didn't properly heal. According to Jordan Schultz, Brown could have long-term damage without the corrective surgery.
Brown will now miss at least four games, though his status for the first half of the season as a whole is suddenly a major question. While the offense looked great in Week 1 against the Ravens, this is still a huge blow to the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.

Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are the unquestioned top two wide receivers, though players like Justin Watson and Mecole Hardman will theoretically take on larger roles. Both Rice and Worthy was spectacular in Week 1, with Rice putting up over 100 yards and Worthy scoring twice on just three touches.
For Brown, it's a disappointing piece of news. He signed only a one-year deal in the offseason, hoping to rebuild his value like JuJu Smith-Schuster did before landing a lucrative deal elsewhere.
He's dealt with injuries throughout his career, so now any team will have to be careful before committing to the former first-round pick. Based on reporting from Soren Petro, Matt Verderame, and others with Kansas City ties, it looks like Brown could miss the entire regular season.
Considering Brown was one of the most important offseason acquisitions for the Chiefs, his loss is significant. Here's hoping he gets back on the field as soon as possible and that the surgery is a resounding success.
