Former NFL MVP Delivers Strong Message to Rashee Rice
By Joe Summers
The NFL world is waiting to see what will ultimately happen with Rashee Rice's ongoing legal situations. He faces eight criminal charges for his role in a car crash in Dallas in March and is also being investigated for allegedly punching a photographer at a nightclub.
It feels likely that Rice will be suspended, though it's unclear exactly when or for how long. In the meantime, former NFL MVP QB Cam Newton has some advice for the young receiver.
Appearing on his 4th and 1 show on YouTube, Newton had a strong, pointed message for Rice.
Cam Newton Gives Rashee Rice Advice
Newton urges Rice to keep things in perspective and remember who he's playing for. "You're responsible for too much," says the former Panthers star.
"I'll tell you this," Newton continues. "There's not a person in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes included...the league don't need you, bro."
He's not wrong with his assessment. The NFL is the most popular professional sports league in the country, and the Chiefs were winning Super Bowls before Rice showed up as well. He looks like a rising star and an important part of Kansas City's future, though he needs to stay focused on the task at hand.
I'm hopeful that Rice is getting the guidance he needs, not only from the coaching staff but from teammates as well. Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and Mahomes are all leaders for this franchise and can help get Rice back on the right path.
Off-field issues seem to be the only thing that can slow the Chiefs down at this point. Here's hoping we've seen the last of any major incident.
