The NFL just released 25 Modern Era semifinalists for the Hall of Fame class of 2024, and one Chiefs' legend has a legitimate chance to earn the all-elusive honor.

DE Jared Allen, who spent the first four seasons of his career in Kansas City, was one of the 25 semifinalists. Widely regarded as one of the best defensive players of his era, it'd be a well-deserved honor for Allen to reach NFL immortality.

Here's the latest information and the 25 semifinalists:

A 2004 fourth-round draft pick, Allen accumulated 43 sacks in four years with the Chiefs, highlighted by a 15.5-sack season in 2007 that earned him first-team All-Pro honors.

Allen would finish his career with 136 sacks, finishing second in the Defensive Player of the Year race with the Vikings in 2011 as he compiled 22 sacks.

Chiefs fans will remember Allen's creative celebrations and fierce motor. He's a deserving candidate for the NFL Hall of Fame and I expect him to ultimately be inducted.

For now, Kansas City can rejoice knowing one of the finest defensive players of the era could soon be enshrined in Canton.
