Former Chiefs QB Takes Big Step Toward NFL Return
By Joe Summers
Former Chiefs QB Chris Oladokun, who was released before roster cutdown day to make room for Bailey Zappe on the practice squad, is reportedly working out with the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.
Oladokun was a valuable member of the team over the last couple of seasons, even mimicking Lamar Jackson on the scout team ahead of last year's AFC Championship matchup. It was a surprise to see him waived, especially considering the promise he showed during the preseason.
Chicago's offense has been miserable to start the 2024 campaign, ranking last in the NFL in yards per play (3.7). Oladokun isn't coming for Caleb Williams' job, yet perhaps he can bring some veteran experience to the QB room.

While Oladokun has never appeared in an actual NFL game, he's an exciting young player with the promise to turn into a dependable backup. His dual-threat ability should be appealing to teams. By all accounts, he's a great locker room presence as well.
Originally a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of South Dakota St., Oladokun stuck with the Chiefs for two seasons before his release.
In this year's preseason, completed 22 of 33 passes at 11 yards per attempt. He averaged 8.7 yards per attempt in 2023's preseason, indicating he's taken steps forward as he develops. Oladokun should find work soon, whether it's with Chicago or another franchise.
We don't yet know if the workout was a success, but odds are that Oladokun is on an NFL team sooner than later.
