Former Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward is walking back some disrespectful comments to the Chiefs from before the Super Bowl.

As San Francisco prepared to take on Kansas City, Ward was asked about being on both teams. He responded that being on the 49ers was better in "every way" and quickly drew the ire of his old fans.

Appearing on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams, Ward clarified those comments to assure Chiefs fans he meant nothing but love.

Ward spent his first four seasons in Kansas City before being traded to San Francisco, where he's been for the last two years. In his career, Ward has 381 tackles, 10 interceptions and three forced fumbles, widely recognized as one of the best cornerbacks in the game.

"I love Kansas City, I had a hell of a time," explained Ward. He noted he didn't have time to "simmer down" and think about his response before the Super Bowl.

"Kansas City was a great spot for me," Ward continued. "I loved it there."

He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and has now been to two, losing this most recent one to his former team. Ward has love for the fan base and city, and any Chiefs fan being real with themselves can recognize his contributions to the team.

Ward might be on a different sideline now, but he'll live forever in Chiefs Kingdom as a Super Bowl champion and winner. If he stays in San Francisco, perhaps we'll see these squads square off in the big game once again.
