We've seen plenty of chatter about the potential retirement of Andy Reid and Travis Kelce from the Chiefs following the Super Bowl, and now owner Clark Hunt has made his first on-the-record comments about the situation.

Those rumors always felt like nonsensical rampant speculation coming purely from one person, who insisted the Chiefs were bracing for the possibility of Reid's retirement, and it appears Hunt is paying the idea no mind.

Here's what he had to say to Alex Gold and Cody Tapp on 610 Sports Radio.

WATCH: Clark Hunt Speaks on Andy Reid Retirement Rumors

It's always possible that Hunt is lying and Reid has indicated he's exploring the possibility, but I take Hunt at his word here.

The Chiefs are in the midst of one of the greatest runs in NFL history, with a chance to win their third Super Bowl in the last five seasons this Sunday against the 49ers. Reid has finally reached the pinnacle of his profession, and he's got a legitimate chance to go down as the greatest coach of all-time.

If you're achieving the most success you ever have and know Patrick Mahomes is locked in, would you leave? I wouldn't, though I'm not Reid.

For now, it at least appears that Hunt wouldn't either. As the Chiefs gear up for the Super Bowl, Reid's focus is on hoisting another Lombardi Trophy.
