There's been talk this week of Chris Jones, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year finalist who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, being disrespectful to the Dolphins following the Chiefs' 26-7 win in the Wild Card round, though it appears to be a misunderstanding.

Jones clarified with reporters Wednesday that he meant no ill-will and merely wanted to see his former teammates, Justin Houston and Tamba Hali, among others.

He entered the Miami locker room following the game, though there was no disrespect intended.

Chris Jones Explains Dolphins Locker Room Controversy

Several former Chiefs were on the Dolphins' sideline in the Wild Card contest. In addition to Hali and Houston, Emmanuel Ogbah, Melvin Ingram and of course, Tyreek Hill all have connections to the Chiefs' defensive star.

As Jones explained to Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star, “The game was over. I waited until I was dressed. I showered. It takes me, like, 45 minutes to get out of the locker room."

He continued, "No disrespect to the Miami organization. I figured everyone was gone, and Justin Houston was still there and Tamba was going there. I went to see my troops.”

Despite Jones' apparent good intentions, the Dolphins' locker room was reportedly not happy about his presence. In any case, the Chiefs are moving on and the Dolphins are going home, so it's safe to say the reality of the situation likely caused some frustration for Miami.

The Chiefs take on the Bills this Sunday in the Divisional Round. Even though the Bills are in the Dolphins' division, I don't think many Miami players will be rooting for Kansas City.
