The Chiefs are leaving no stone unturned this offseason, reportedly bringing in Welsh rugby sensation Louis Rees-Zammit for a workout on Tuesday.

One of the bigger names on the NFL's International Player Pathway program, Rees-Zammit is a club star and plays for the Welsh national team, though has visits planned with a variety of NFL teams this week as he hopes to take the leap to American stardom.

He showed his skills in a 10-week training program in Florida with representatives from 31 of 32 NFL teams in attendance, showcasing blazing speed that could fit in a return role or perhaps even running back or receiver.

The 6'3", 209 LB speedster was disappointed with the 4.4 40-yard dash he ran at his pro day, telling scouts he'd been clocked in the 4.2 and 4.3 range previously.

During rugby matches, he's been clocked at 24.2 MPH, a mark that would demolish the fastest NFL times from the last several seasons. With the Chiefs already adding Hollywood Brown to increase the offense's speed, can you imagine a guy who can hit over 24 MPH?

Rees-Zammit showed impressive athleticism otherwise with a 29-inch vertical and 9'7" broad jump, faring well in catching drills as well.

It's unlikely that a guy like Rees-Zammit makes a big impact as a rookie in the league, but he'd be a fun development project nonetheless. You can't teach speed, espeically not 4.2 40-yard dash speed, and I'd love to see what Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes could do with a weapon that fast after some time in the system.

We'll see what happens with Rees-Zammit's visit, though I'd love to see him make the practice squad and perhaps make an impact on the 2025 or 2026 Chiefs. After all, Jordan Maliata was a rugby star before becoming a quality player for the Eagles. Maybe Rees-Zammit can have a similar path.
