Chiefs vs. Ravens Opening Odds Once Again Underestimate Patrick Mahomes
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs pulled off a dramatic win over the Bills in perhaps the offense's best performance of the season tonight and now get to take on the Ravens in Baltimore for a chance to make another Super Bowl.
It wasn't easy, especially when compared to the Ravens' dominant win over the Texans the day prior. Opening odds are out, and sportsbooks don't expect the Chiefs to emerge victorious.
Let's take a look at those odds and give an early breakdown on this AFC Championship matchup.
Chiefs vs. Ravens Opening Odds for AFC Championship
The Chiefs are 3.5-point underdogs with +146 odds on the moneyline and a total set at 44.5, making Kansas City an underdog for the second consecutive week.
That's great news for Chiefs bettors, as Patrick Mahomes is now 9-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in his career as an underdog after an incredible performance against Buffalo. Lamar Jackson is no slouch though, so this will be perhaps the most difficult game for the Chiefs since the Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay.
Kansas City is 4-1 in its last five games against Baltimore, though the last time these teams played was back in 2021. The Ravens are 4-1 ATS in their last five contests as Lamar is playing perhaps the best football of his career, though the Chiefs covered the spread in each of their last four.
We should be in for a spectacular matchup between what I believe to be the NFL's two best teams. It'll be tough, but I'll trust Patrick Mahomes any and every day of the week.
