The Chiefs host the Bengals in Week 2 after a stellar Week 1 for the Kansas City, and opening odds suggest the once-famed rivalry is a thing of the past.

While Patrick Mahomes established himself as the leading MVP candidate in a 27-20 Thursday Night Football win over the Ravens, Joe Burrow put forth one of the worst performances of his career in a disastrous 16-10 loss to the lowly Patriots.

Suddenly, the Bengals look like a team that'd be lucky to make the playoffs while the Chiefs are obvious Super Bowl favorites. Unfortunately for those in Cincinnati, the opening odds for Week 2 reflect that.

Chiefs vs. Bengals Week 2 Opening Odds

  • Spread: Chiefs -5.5 (-115) / Bengals +5.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Chiefs (-260) / Bengals (+215)
  • Total: 48.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

It's hard to imagine a worse start to the 2024-25 season for Burrow and the Bengals. After dealing with a holdout from Ja'Marr Chase and injuries to both Tee Higgins and Burrow, things went from bad to worse quickly.

New England beat Cincinnati in the Bengals' home, and oddsmakers don't believe there's much of a chance for Burrow to rebound at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. That's Arrowhead, not the goofy name some Bengals prefer to use.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs favored by 5.5 points with -260 odds on the moneyline, giving Kansas City an implied 72.22% chance to win the matchup. These squads have been involved in epic games in recent years, with Burrow being the only active QB to beat Mahomes in the playoffs.

Those days look over, and it appears that Mahomes and the Chiefs are well on their way to a 2-0 start as the Bengals lick their chops and must find a way to avoid losing their season before September ends.
