The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a crucial AFC West matchup against their biggest divisional challengers on Sunday. In addition to their usual absences like Hollywood Brown, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Charles Omenihu, the Chiefs had another veteran pop up on the injury report.

Mike Danna, who wasn't on Wednesday's injury report according to The Athletic's Nate Taylor, did not participate in practice on Thursday. He was the only player with the DNP designation according to the official team release.

NFL News: DE Mike Danna Out of Thursday's Practice

This is not the first time Danna appeared on the injury report this season. He was listed with a quad injury in Week 2 but was a full participant in practice before suiting up against the Bengals. He also saw his usual share of snaps in Week 3 against the Falcons.

On Thursday's injury report, Danna is listed with a calf injury. Whether the two injuries are related is unknown as of now but this is the latest concerning development in a worrisome start for the 26-year-old defender.

After securing a contract extension in the offseason, Danna hasn't been able to replicate his performance from the last few seasons. Through three games, he has a PFF grade of 60.8, the lowest mark of his career. He has half a sack and only one tackle for loss so far. He is also averaging a career-worst pass-rush win rate of 4%.

It's important to note that it is still early in the season. He may have been affected by the injury he has been dealing with. If he suits up against the Chargers, Danna would be going up against his former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. That would be an excellent opportunity for him to bounce back but whether he will be ready to go on Sunday remains to be seen.
