Chiefs Schedule: Predicting the Chiefs' First Four Games in September
Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, September 22
The third week of September will represent the Chiefs' first road trip of the 2024 season, and they're traveling to Atlanta to take on the new-look Falcons.
The Falcons are a tough team to project at the moment because we haven't really seen any of their big-name players on the field together. The big acquisition by Atlanta this offseason was obviously quarterback Kirk Cousins, who signed a four-year deal worth $180 million in total money. They followed that up with the very odd decision to draft Michael Penix Jr.
Despite the odd decision, the Falcons have assembled a pretty good-looking roster on paper. They not only brought in Kirk Cousins as a huge upgrade over what they previously had at quarterback, but they recently added Matthew Judon and Justin Simmons to their defense, addressing some of their only remaining roster weaknesses.
The Falcons could be a dangerous team, and they have the type of firepower to be able to win against Kansas City.
I think Atlanta is going to be supercharged for this particular matchup, this game being a Sunday Night Football matchup. The Chiefs are going to be coming off of two really tough games against Baltimore and Cincinnati, and while I think it's going to take Atlanta playing mistake-free football, I am going to say this is one of the games in which the Chiefs slip up.
Luckily for them, it's against an NFC opponent so it doesn't hurt them all that much in the long run.
Prediction: Falcons win 30-27
