The Kansas City Chiefs are about to begin their quest for a third-straight Super Bowl after beating the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling overtime win back in February. Nobody said it was going to be easy for the Chiefs, who immediately have a rematch of last season's AFC Championship on the schedule and a difficult slate of games beyond that.

But as we've seen in recent years, head coach Andy Reid is always going to have his team ready to go, and Patrick Mahomes at the quarterback position does more than just give the Chiefs a "chance" to win every game. The Chiefs have the biggest advantage in all of pro sports with Mahomes under center.

So how are the first handful of games going to go this season? Will the Chiefs be able to start hot in the month of September? We're going to predict all of their September matchups.

Week 1: Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs

Thursday, September 5

As previously mentioned, the Chiefs' title defense begins with a rematch of last season's AFC Championship Game. If the Chiefs want to win a third straight title, they are probably going to have to face Baltimore multiple times as the Ravens are one of the most well-rounded, well-coached, and well-equipped teams to make a run in the AFC.

Last year, they weren't up to the task in the postseason, which frankly surprised just about everybody. But the Chiefs turned things on in the postseason in such a way that not many teams were going to be getting in their way and surviving to tell the tale.

The Ravens have added Derrick Henry to the mix this year, but other than that move, this is going to feel like a very familiar matchup on paper. These two teams are built on continuity and they know each other well at this point. This should be a really fun matchup, but I have the Chiefs starting off this season with a convincing win as opposed to what we saw last year, where they looked sloppy at home in a loss to the Lions.

Prediction: Chiefs win 34-24
