The Kansas City Chiefs' incredible defensive line just got better.

After losing rookie sixth-round pick Keondre Coburn to the Denver Broncos, Kansas City reunited with the promising defensive tackle out of Texas today.

The Chiefs originally intended to place Coburn on the practice squad before the Broncos claimed him from waivers, so Coburn's return adds welcomed depth to a stout unit.

Chiefs Reunite With Promising Rookie Defensive Tackle

Coburn joins an excellent defensive line group after an impressive career as a Texas Longhorn, playing in 10+ games for four straight years with 94 tackles and 5.5 sacks in his career.

His initial release raised eyebrows in Chiefs Kingdom. Kansas City selected Coburn in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, thanks in large part due to Coburn's impressive physicality, size and versatility.

It seemed questionable to let a division rival poach that kind of talent, so it's encouraging that the Chiefs were able to bring Coburn back.

He's got a ton of talent as a pass rusher. With Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Mike Danna and Charles Omenihu destroying offensive lines, rotating an athlete like Coburn in could pay huge dividends down the stretch.

Regardless, I'm excited to see how Coburn develops now that he's back with the team that drafted him.
