Chiefs' rookie sixth-round pick CB Kamal Hadden officially signed his rookie contract, receiving a total of $4.158 million with a signing bonus of $138,388. It's a big step for the former Tennessee standout, and he hopes to follow in the footsteps of recent late-round defensive backs who have succeeded in Kansas City.

Hadden is, on paper, a perfect fit for Steve Spagnuolo's scheme. His physical profile is eerily similar to L'Jarius Sneed's and excels at press coverage. He led the Volunteers with three interceptions in 2023 and can rush the passer as well, showcasing the versatile skillset Spagnuolo covets.

While Hadden dealt with injuries throughout his college career, he'll be a steal at his draft capital if he can stay healthy.

Hadden has a chance to earn snaps quickly. He's an experienced special teams contributor and plays with an impressive physicality. Opposing QBs had only a 31.7 passer rating when targeting Hadden, and he's adept at knocking the ball down at the catch point.

Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson, and even Sneed himself are recent examples of mid-to-late-round corners Brett Veach drafted that turned into effective contributors. Hadden has every chance to become the latest example provided he can stay healthy.

Kansas City's secondary faces a huge challenge in replacing Sneed this season. He was one of the NFL's most dominant cover corners, and his versatility made everyone better around him. Trent McDuffie, Williams, Watson, Chamarri Conner and eventually Hadden will need to step up to fill Sneed's shoes.

For now, this is a major accomplishment for Hadden and the first of many big steps in his NFL career. Fingers crossed he stays on the field and we get to see him flourish in Kansas City.
