Chiefs Announce Official Dates for Rookie Minicamp as Draft Approaches
By Cem Yolbulan
We are officially a week away from the 2024 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs, armed with a pick in each of the first five rounds of the draft and a total of seven picks, have turned their attention to the draft to help bolster their roster. Yet, the hard work for the organization and the players only begins then.
Then these players have to attend the rookie minicamp, along with undrafted free agents, tryouts, some veterans, and select first-year players to first make the 90-man training camp roster, then eventually the 53-man final roster.
The Chiefs just announced when the minicamp will take place. According to Chiefs reporter Pete Sweeney, it will be from May 4 to May 6, at the team's facility at the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City.
Chiefs News: Kansas City Announces Rookie Minicamp Dates
According to OverTheCap, the Chiefs currently have 74 players on the active roster. They also have around $20 million in cap space, which they can still use in free agency. They will add their draft picks and undrafted free agents into the mix to compete for the final roster.
This will make the rookie minicamp extremely competitive for Kansas City. The Chiefs have three draft picks in the top 100 of the draft. These prospects will certainly have the inside track of landing the roster spots but plenty of players have impressed in the minicamp to make their way into the Chiefs roster, including Nic Jones, Nikko Remigio, and Isaiah Moore last season.
