The 2024 season is quickly approaching as the Kansas City Chiefs are officially at training camp.

They are looking to win the Super Bowl for an unprecedented third straight time. They've been to the mountaintop multiple times so they know what to expect.

Despite the Chiefs trying to focus on next season, they have lost an all-time.

Chiefs News: Abner Haynes Passes Away

Former Chief Abner Haynes passed away on July 18 at the age of 86 in Dallas.

In a statement posted on the team website, Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said, "Abner was one of the first great stars of the Dallas Texans and the American Football League. In the league's first season in 1960, Abner earned Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors, and more importantly, he earned the respect and admiration of his teammates and fans alike. In addition to his on-the-field prowess."

He added, "Abner was a man of courage and leadership from a very young age. He remained involved in the community well after his playing days were over, and his legacy extends far beyond the gridiron. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Guadalupe and his entire family during this difficult time."

Although Haynes only played two seasons in Kansas City after the Texans moved from Dallas in 1963, he was an electric playmaker.

He holds franchise records for most touchdowns in a rookie season (12), most points by a non-kicker in a rookie season (72), most points in a single game (30), most touchdowns in a game (5), and most rushing touchdowns in a game (4).

In addition, he became the first Chiefs player to record more than 1,000 rushing yards, as he notched 1,049 yards during the team's 1962 AFL Championship campaign.

Haynes was inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame in 1991 and his No. 28 jersey is one of just 10 jersey numbers retired.

He will be missed by the KC Kingdom. May he rest in peace.
