The Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 offseason has, unfortunately, been full of off-the-field drama as the gears up for another title defense. Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs is one of the Chiefs who's wound up in legal trouble following the 2023 campaign, as the 27-year-old was arrested over animal cruelty charges at the end of May.

While that case is still pending, Buggs now suddenly could face additional punishment from a new matter.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Buggs was arrested on Sunday over second-degree domestic violence and second-degree burglary charges. AL.com adds that Buggs was eventually released on $5.000 bond, and each charge is a Class B felony.

Buggs, a former University of Alabama standout, continues to face legal trouble in the area. Aside from this incident and the animal cruelty case, Buggs also was reportedly charged with shoving the Tuscaloosa chief of police earlier in the year.

The Kansas City defender's agent has been on the record of accusing local law enforcement of harassing Buggs, with the belief Buggs' hookah joint is causing frustrations in the community.

The fact Buggs has found himself in so many run-ins with police in the area is already a huge concern, though, and now the Chiefs have another charge to worry about in regards to the veteran defender.

With the preseason being the time of roster cuts in the NFL, it's fair to wonder if Kansas City opts to rid itself of a liability by cutting ties with Buggs in the coming weeks. He only joined the organization earlier this year, and considering he's already a fringe 53-man roster candidate, the Chiefs could eliminate at least one off-field distraction by moving on.

Of course, the team may allow the legal progress to play out before making a decision on Buggs' future. It's clear KC sees some potential in the former sixth-rounder since he was re-signed in free agency, but he's doing himself no favors with the reigning champs by continuing to make headlines in Tuscaloosa.
