Chiefs Invite Kansas State Standout to Local Prospect Day
By Jovan Alford
The back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have made a lot of notable moves this offseason such as signing Marquise Brown, re-signing Chris Jones, and trading L’Jarius Sneed.
Based on these moves, the Chiefs are still one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl (+650) next season. However, Kansas City will not just depend on their free agent moves as they’ll look to add more talent to its roster in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs have seven picks in the NFL draft, including three within the top 100. Kansas City will likely use a few of those picks in the trenches and sign a couple of undrafted free agents after the NFL draft wraps up.
With that in mind, the Chiefs are doing their due diligence on offensive line prospects as they want to have a closer look at a prospect from Kansas State.
Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston reported Tuesday that the Chiefs are inviting Kansas State center Hayden Gillum to their local pro day.
Chiefs News: Kansas City Invites Local Standout to Prospect Day
Gillum had an impressive showing at the Big 12’s Pro Day last week, ranking the top-two in the best vertical, shuffle, and L drill. The Chiefs do not have a backup behind starting center Creed Humphrey, so it’s not a surprise to see the team looking at center prospects.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Gillum has started 27 games at center for the Wildcats over the last two seasons. This past season at Kansas State, Gillum received All-Big 12 honorable mention for the second consecutive year and didn’t have a single penalty in 940 offensive snaps.
