Chiefs Injury News: One Star Player Ruled Out for Super Bowl
By Joe Summers
Andy Reid spoke to the media Thursday afternoon and gave injury updates on two key players.
Confirming what we already suspected, star DE Charles Omenihu, enjoying a breakout season, has officially been ruled out for Super Bowl LVIII after tearing his ACL against the Ravens in the AFC Championship game.
Additionally, LG Joe Thuney still is not practicing, casting further doubt on his ability to suit up.
Chiefs Get Injury Updates on Charles Omenihu and Joe Thuney
Omenihu will finish his inaugural season in Kansas City with seven sacks in 11 games, adding another sack and forced fumble in that AFC title win.
He's under contract next year for the Chiefs and should play a pivotal role for a ferocious pass rush that may be looking to replace Chris Jones' production, depending on what comes of his contract negotiations this offseason.
As for Thuney, he's consistently rated as the best pass-blocking guard in the league, though fifth-year veteran Nick Allegretti played well filling in for Thuney against Baltimore.
There were no major updates on any other players, except for the confirmation that promising young safety Bryan Cook is likely out for the big game as well.
