Chiefs Injury News: Promising Safety Bryan Cook Expected to Miss Playoffs
By Joe Summers
2022 second-round pick Bryan Cook was enjoying a breakout season as a starting safety for the Chiefs prior to a gruesome ankle injury.
Unfortunately, Andy Reid told media on Tuesday that the Chiefs expect Cook to miss the entire postseason. There was optimism he could return, though it sounds like his recovery is still ongoing.
As the Chiefs get set for a Wild Card showdown with the Dolphins, they'll have to trudge on without Cook.
Chiefs Injury News: S Bryan Cook to Miss Playoffs
Cook is currently on the Injured Reserve and was an impressive member of the secondary. He was perhaps Kansas City's best safety in pass coverage, so his loss is a blow to one of the league's best defenses.
Offseason addition Mike Edwards will play a huge role alongside Justin Reid and Chamarri Conner, as the Chiefs could face some of the NFL's premier passing attacks.
On the season, Cook finishes with 42 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception in 12 games.
I'm excited to see what he brings to the table in the 2024-25 season, as he looks like one of the young foundational pieces of the defensive unit. Cheers to a full recovery this offseason.
