Chiefs Injury News: LG Joe Thuney Officially Ruled Out vs. Ravens
By Joe Summers
We expected this to be the case, but the Chiefs have officially ruled out star LG Joe Thuney in the AFC Championship game against the Ravens in Baltimore on Sunday.
While the expectation was that Thuney would sit with a pectoral strain and Nick Allegretti start in the game, this is still massive injury news for a Chiefs team taking on a ferocious Ravens' defensive front that led the NFL in sacks this season.
Here's the latest:
LG Joe Thuney Ruled OUT While RB Isiah Pacheco is Questionable
The big story here, given we expected Thuney to sit, is that standout RB Isiah Pacheco is questionable.
While Pacheco insisted during media availability that he'll play, and I expect him to, the question becomes how much he'll be involved or if there's a risk of reinjury. Toe ailments for a running back aren't exactly great news, so we may see a healthy dose of former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the biggest game of the season.
Outside of that impact, DT Derrick Nnadi and WR Skyy Moore were also ruled out. The Chiefs' rush defense struggled last week without Nnadi, and we'll need we better effort against one of the most dangerous running teams in the league.
This is big news and we still have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, but i'll require a superhero effort from the Chiefs' stars to escape with a win in Baltimore.
