Former Chiefs LB Darius Harris officially has a new home, signing a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to join the roster for the remainder of training camp and potentially into the season.

Harris spent the last four years with Kansas City, appearing in 33 games in the regular season and six playoff contests. The two-time Super Bowl champion played in the AFC Championship win over the Ravens though did not record a statistic.

His largest contributions came in 2022, appearing in 17 games and every playoff victory. He'll now hope to earn playing time for an NFC contender trying to make its first Super Bowl since 1996.

Chiefs News: LB Darius Harris Signs With Cowboys

During his four-year career as a Chief, Harris compiled 58 tackles, two deflected passes, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 1.5 sacks. He started six total games with the organization, stepping in when fellow linebackers went down with injuries.

The former undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee spent time with the Raiders' practice squad as well before returning to the Chiefs. After Kansas City committed itself to Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill, and Leo Chenal this offseason, the path to playing time was minimal at best for Harris.

Going to Dallas gives him a better opportunity to earn significant snaps, and he's played well when given the chance. Harris started as a safety before adding weight and transitioning to linebacker in college, so he's got a degree of versatility that makes him potentially valuable in a variety of schemes.

Should things not work out with the Cowboys, Harris is a player to watch if the Chiefs sustain any injuries during the season. He's familiar with Steve Spagnuolo's scheme and already contributed in big games. Thus, it wouldn't be a shock to see him back on the roster if the opportunity presents itself.

For now, we wish Harris luck with his new team and hope he finds the playing time he seeks.
