L'Jarius Sneed has been phenomenal this season, constantly smothering opposing receivers with play worthy of an All-Pro nod.

He's not under contract next season, raising questions about the Chiefs' long-term plans for not only him, but other defenders like Chris Jones and Mike Danna as well.

One recent contract projection puts Sneed well within Kansas City's budget and would be a no-brainer extension. Check out the projections below.

Chiefs Rumors: L'Jarius Sneed Contract Projection is a Slam-Dunk Deal

Pro Football Focus projects Sneed to get a three-year, $52 million deal with $30 total guaranteed. This isn't dissimilar from the deal that Veach elected not to give Charvarius Ward, though Ward never reached the heights that Sneed has this season.

From A.J. Brown to Tyreek Hill, Sneed routinely shuts down opposing receivers alongside rising star Trent McDuffie, giving the Chiefs perhaps the NFL's most dominant secondary.

When targeting Sneed, opposing quarterbacks complete less than 50% of their passes with a 53.7 rating, an elite mark.

At roughly $17 million per year, this deal would be an easy call for Kansas City. Sneed and McDuffie's skillsets perfectly compliment each other. I want the Chiefs to keep the duo together, and Sneed's age (26) means he could lead this new era of Chiefs' defensive football.

We'll see what comes of Sneed's contract negotiations, but he's earned an extension with his exceptional play this season.
