Chiefs Can Expect an Extra Fifth-Round Pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

The Chiefs are short on draft capital in the 2024 NFL Draft relative to recent years, though Brett Veach has proven he can find valuable players even late in the draft, nailing picks like Isiah Pacheco, Trey Smith and Chamarri Conner in recent years.
Kansas City is light on projected draft capital and may not even receive a conditional 7th-round pick from a trade with the Texans in training camp, though one projection shows the Chiefs are likely to get an additional 5th-round selection.
With Veach's strong history, that bodes well for Chiefs fans.
Chiefs Compensatory Draft Picks 2024
OvertheCap's released their 2024 compensatory draft pick projections and while these are not the official list from the NFL itself, these folks have a strong track record of accurate projections.
According to these projections, the Chiefs are in line to receive a fifth-round pick from losing right tackle Andrew Wylie in the offseason.

That would give the Chiefs a full seven picks, pending the seventh-round conditional selection from the Texans.
What are Compensatory Picks?
Compensatory picks are additional draft selections awarded to teams following the departure of players via free agency. Qualified free agents are defined as players who sign as unrestricted free agents before 4 PM on the Monday immediately after the NFL Draft from the previous year and must rank in the top 35% of all league players.
