This is the last quiet period of the NFL offseason before things get serious in training camp. Rookies report to the facility on July 16 and veterans come in on July 20.

The Chiefs have a stellar defense and have an offense headlined by superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

They are looking to be a dominant powerhouse in the AFC once again as they chase another Super Bowl title.

Even though free agency opened in March, there are still some quality veteran options on the market. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox released an article highlighting 10 bargain-bin free agents who still can help teams in 2024.

Two players on the list had the Chiefs as potential suitors and the additions would make sense. They were OT David Bakhtiari and CB Stephon Gilmore.

Let's start with Bakhtiari. In his prime, he was one of the most dominant and smooth left tackles in the league. Knee injuries have severely limited him over the past three seasons, playing in just 13 games.

After tirelessly rehabbing, he's ready to take the field and the Chiefs should call in. Kansas City 2024 first-round pick Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris are expected to compete for the starting left tackle job. The addition of Bakhtiari would give them a veteran as a fallback option. He could give some great advice to these young players while providing the Chiefs with a player who's been battle-tested.

It also wouldn't cost much to bring him in.

Gilmore would also be a wise investment at this time of the offseason. Even though he's 33 years old, Gilmore still can play ball at a high level. Last season with the Dallas Cowboys, he started in all 17 games, logging 68 total tackles, 13 pass deflections, and two interceptions.

He also played 94 percent of the defensive snaps and had a passer rating of 82.7 in coverage.

The Chiefs lost their No. 1 corner in L'Jarius Sneed this offseason so adding a veteran to help ease that departure could be enticing.

Kansas City may feel content with how their roster is constructed but it wouldn't hurt to kick the tires on these two vets.
