Chiefs 'Connected' to Speedy WR Prospect in Latest Draft Rumor
The 2024 NFL Draft is finally here as fans have been waiting for months. After countless weeks of rumors and leaks, teams will finally have the chance to select prospects they've been diving into for months.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been atop the NFL world for two straight years and are aiming for a three-peat in 2024.
Even though they are the defending champs, the Chiefs had to deal with a few storylines this offseason. They shipped out L'Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans after failing to agree to a long-term deal. But the biggest storyline has been surrounding Rashee Rice and his legal troubles.
Rice is facing eight charges after he was involved in a car crash last month in Dallas. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Rice is expected to be disciplined by the NFL and will miss some time.
With uncertainty about Rice's availability, NFL Senior Reporter Albert Breer provided some insight on the Chiefs' plans.
Chiefs Rumors: Albert Breer Reports the Chiefs Are Linked to Texas Playmaker
In Breer's annual draft column, he dropped some interesting nuggets. He believes the Chiefs are looking at WR and they have been connected to Texas' Xavier Worthy.
"But Kansas City is bracing for Rashee Rice to, eventually, incur sanctions from the league for his recent hit-and-run, and so receiver is higher on the list than it might’ve been a couple of months ago. I have heard Worthy’s name connected to Kansas City."

After the Chiefs led the NFL with 2.6 drops per game, Brett Veach was always going to aggressively improve that position. That mixed with the problems with Rice, it makes sense why the Chiefs are looking at WR. It started in free agency when they signed Marquise Brown.
The Chiefs had a blazing quick wide receiver in Tyreek Hill for six seasons so Worthy being on their radar isn't surprising.
The California native flew up draft boards after he ran a record-breaking 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Worthy isn't the biggest guy (165 pounds) but he's so explosive that defenders can't even get a hand on him. He forces defenses to give him a cushion but he tracks the deep ball very well. In three seasons at Texas, Worthy racked up 197 receptions for 2,755 receiving yards, and 26 touchdowns.
The Chiefs own the 32nd overall pick and could use that on Worthy. They could even trade up and nab Worthy if they fear he won't last until the end of the first.
One thing that's certain is Kansas City has an interest in the speedy threat. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, wide receiver has the highest odds at -120 to be the Chiefs' first position selected.
