Brett Veach, Andy Reid and the rest of the Chiefs' brass are hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Offensive tackle is an obvious need for the roster and Kansas City is already honing in on first and second-round prospects who could join the franchise in its bid for a third straight Super Bowl.

One such prospect, BYU T Kingsley Suamataia, is scheduled to visit the Chiefs this week. The versatile cousin of Lions' star Penei Sewell is a hot commodity with visits scheduled in Dallas and New England as well, giving Kansas City competition on the circuit.

The two-year starter would be a great fit for the Chiefs and already has a natural connection to BYU alum Reid too.

Chiefs Draft Rumors: KC Scheduled to Visit BYU T Kingsley Suamataia

At 6'5", 326 LBs, Suamataia is a former five-star recruit projected to go early in the second round. If the Chiefs want him, they'll likely need to use their first-round pick or trade back to the beginning of the second, something we saw them do to acquire Chris Jones back in 2016.

He played 644 snaps in 11 games for the Cougars in 2023, surrendering only nine QB hurries and two sacks. Suamataia has tremendous athleticism, hitting 21.5 MPH as a freshman. With exceptional burst and quickness, he'd be a natural fit for some of the pulling schemes Reid and Matt Nagy love to deploy in the run game.

Suamataia has experience at both tackle positions and we know how much Reid loves versatility in his offensive linemen. He's a strong pass blocker, a must with Patrick Mahomes, relying on quick hands and sheer size to maul defenders.

While his technique needs to be improved, Suamataia would be a logical draft target for the Chiefs, espeically considering the depth at the WR position, another area Kansas City needs some reinforcements.

We'll see what happens with his visit and the draft process over the next month, but Suamataia is certainly a name to remember in the coming weeks.
