Brandt Tillis, who has been with the Chiefs for 14 years, most recently serving as the vice president of football operations and noted salary cap expert, reportedly agreed to become the new Executive Vice President of Football Operations with the Carolina Panthers.

This is a well-earned promotion for Tillis but a massive loss for the Chiefs' front office as the organization enters a critical offseason with several key players, like Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed, up for contract extensions.

Tillis was reportedly instrumental in negotiating deals for the Chiefs over the years and his absence will be felt.

He served as Kansas City's lead contract negotiator since 2017, helping facilitate every contract, including the record-setting 10-year deal with two-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

From the Panthers' release, "It’s great to add Brandt and his experience to our organization. He comes from a championship-caliber team in Kansas City and will play a lead role in our front office. We are looking forward to getting him here and working together to build this team.”

It's not yet clear who will take over Tillis' responsibilities in the organization, though we know that person will have big shoes to fill.

Here's hoping the Chiefs can maintain their excellence and stay the course with the avalanche of negotiations soon to come.
