6. Khristian Boyd - DT, Northern Iowa (Pick 173)

Khristian Boyd grew up in Kansas City, earning All-State honors at Blue Springs High School, and was brought in for a visit with the Chiefs just like Suamataia. He was fantastic at the East-West Shrine Bowl, establishing himself as a legitimate option to join Kansas City's defensive line rotation.

Adept at both rushing the passer and stopping the run, Boyd was a two-year starter and has great size, strength and hand placement. Learning behind Chris Jones could help him develop some go-to moves and potentially contribute down the line or in a pinch.

During his pro day at Northern Iowa, Boyd bench pressed 225 pounds 38 times, a mark that would have led all defensive players at the NFL Combine.

While he hasn't developed strong counter moves yet, Boyd could certainly clog the middle of the line and let the Chiefs' talented pass rushers go to work on the outside.

Run defense has been one of the lone warts for Kansas City's unit in the last couple of seasons and Boyd could help alleviate that issue as well.
