Chiefs 7-Round NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Solidifying the Dynasty
By Joe Summers
4. Jaden Hicks - S, Washington State (Pick 131)
Jaden Hicks is one of the most versatile secondary prospects in this draft class and was a star for the Washington State Cougars. With experience in several alignments and the ability to play on special teams as well, Hicks could become a multi-faceted weapon for the Chiefs.
Over the last two seasons as a starter for the Cougars, Hicks recorded 155 tackles, 10 deflected passes, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions and a pair of TDs. The Chiefs could develop him into a long-term Justin Reid replacement, though he could immediately make a contribution in Mike Edwards' place.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic has Hicks ranked as his top safety in the entire class. The opportunity to land a player of that caliber in the fourth round doesn't come often and I'm crossing my fingers that Brett Veach will have a chance to snag the Washington State standout.
After trading away L'Jarius Sneed, the Chiefs need a versatile playmaker in the secondary. Hicks, Reid and Trent McDuffie would form one of the most physical secondary trios in the league as the organization tries to win a third straight Super Bowl.
