The newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs, QB Carson Wentz, officially spoke to local media for the first time since agreeing to a one-year deal to join the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.
While noting that he admires the winning culture Andy Reid instilled in the organization, Wentz expressed his excitement in joining a similar offense to Doug Pederson's. Wentz was an MVP candidate in 2017 under Pederson and hopes to rebuild his value while having an opportunity to chase a second Super Bowl ring of his own.
See what he had to say below.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited about Wentz's acquisition. He's got plenty of experience as a starter and while he's had limited success in recent years, he represented the best option at low cost to serve as Patrick Mahomes' backup.
Having familiarity with a system is important to coaches, especially those in Kansas City, so Wentz's relatively small learning curve is a huge benefit as well.

On top of the familiarity aspect, Wentz helps solve Kansas City's biggest weakness on offense over the last several years. He's fantastic at running QB sneaks in short-yardage situations and now the Chiefs can use him instead of risking injury to Mahomes.
Whether he sees much playing time or not, Wentz is a welcome addition to Kansas City's offense and I'm excited to see how he develops under Andy Reid.
