Brad Keller Finds New Home in AL Central
By Joe Summers
Old friend Brad Keller officially found a new home on Friday, reportedly signing a minor league contract with Kansas City's AL Central rival, the Chicago White Sox, as he tries to rebuild a once-promising career.
Keller has been with the Royals organization his entire career, spending six seasons with the major league club before control issues plagued his last couple of years.
The Royals will now face their former prospect throughout the season, though it was long expected he'd leave Kansas City regardless.

Keller had a 2.47 ERA in nine starts before getting hurt in 2020, though the last few years have been plagued with injury and inconsistency.
In 2022, for example, Keller posted a 5.09 ERA with 57 walks in 139.2 innings, then things really fell off the rail this last year. Despite appearing in only 11 games in 2023, Keller issued 45 walks in 45.1 innings with a 4.57 ERA.
He's got plenty of promise, and perhaps the White Sox will unlock a level of Keller who once looked like a potential ace for the Royals. Kansas City has a much-improved pitching staff capable of competing for the AL Central.
It appears unlikely that Keller will crack the major-league rotation barring injury, though Royals fans will get to see the former potential ace throughout the season nonetheless.
