Andy Reid Shares New Hollywood Brown Injury Update Before Week 2
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs are turning their attention to a Week 2 matchup with one of their biggest rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday and while Marquise "Hollywood" Brown is progressing in the right direction, Reid stopped short of guaranteeing he'd return from his shoulder injury this week.
It's possible that Brown is able to suit up against the Bengals, a development that would give Kansas City an even larger advantage than they already have. Based on the initial diagnosis, it feels more likely that Brown sits for another week, though the news is still a positive nonetheless.
Once Brown is back on the field, this offense might truly become unstoppable.
Andy Reid Gives Optimistic New Hollywood Brown Update
"He's getting close. I know he's feeling better," Reid said when asked about Brown's recovery. "It looks like it's heading in the right direction."
The Chiefs' head coach wouldn't comment on Brown's exact game status, though it sounds as if he'll be back on the field sooner than later. Kansas City had one of the more impressive Week 1 performances, beating the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 while a number of other so-called "contenders" stumbled.
Coming into the year, it looked like the Chiefs had the most difficult early schedule of any team. After the Bengals laid an egg to fall to the Patriots as the biggest betting favorites of the week and the Falcons' new-look offense threw up all over itself, the schedule suddenly doesn't look so tough.
Once Brown gets back, he'll form one of the NFL's fastest duos with Xavier Worthy, who scored two TDs in his debut. The rest of the league should be absolutely terrified, because this version of the Chiefs only stands to get better once its fully healthy.
