3. Tim Patrick - Detroit Lions

Tim Patrick is among the easier receivers the Chiefs might acquire. The former Denver Bronco is on the Detroit Lions' practice squad, so Kansas City could just sign him to the active roster. While Patrick has dealt with numerous injuries during his career, he's been productive when given the opportunity and has untapped potential.

Originally an undrafted free agent, Patrick hasn't played since 2021 due to his injuries. The overall ceiling isn't as high as someone like Metchie's is, but Patrick is the type of player who could positively impact the offense.

He's six-foot-four with adept route-running skills and smooth athleticism. While the injuries zapped some of his explosiveness, Patrick's underlying advanced metrics showcase his talent. QBs targeting him had a passer rating of 104.5 in 2020 and a 99.8 mark in 2021. Even with the Broncos' poor QB play, Patrick still shined.

There is discussion that Detroit could elevate Patrick from the practice squad, which would ruin the Chiefs' chances of poaching him. Should they elect not to put him on the 53-man roster though, Brett Veach has a unique chance to strike.

Aside from the obvious potential benefits, how beautiful would it be for Kansas City to turn a former rival into a productive player?
